Regionaltourism

Our Regional Tourism Associations (RTAs)

Our RTAs are amazing. They make sure every part of the province gets a chance to shine, both at home and abroad. RTAs work hard to develop, promote, welcome, and inform the people who come to visit. RTAs are the reason for the one-of-a-kind experiences we enjoy—like getting our sweet on every year in a sugar shack. RTAs wanted to make sure our traditions survived the year, so they stood up for our cause. Want to see how Québec’s rural communities warm our hearts and keep our traditions alive? Right this way!

The Laurentians

Sugar Shacks and Sugar Bushes

Sugar Shacks and Sugar Bushes

Sugar shacks are a longstanding tradition in the Laurentians. For over 100 years the Laurentians have been known for their sugar bushes, many of them continuing for generations. From real down-home cooking to tasty experimental cuisine, our sugar shack cooks and master chefs have been working their magic. Sugar season in the Laurentians also means plenty of fun for one and all.

Nature and Parks

Nature and Parks

The sprawling natural vistas of the Laurentians are sublime in any season. Whether clad in snow, carpeted in green, or aflame with fall colours, the great outdoors is always the main attractions. The best-known spots are the national parks of Mont-Tremblant and Oka, but be sure not to miss the Papineau-Labelle and Rouge-Matawin wildlife reserves. In fact, the area features a dozen amazing parks with an endless array of possibilities.

Take the time to enjoy and savour the Laurentians in every season. Discover the wealth of local specialties along Chemin du Terroir, a tourist route along winding country roads against a rustic backdrop that’s perfect for a romantic getaway or family adventure. There’s also Route des Belles-Histoires (“once-upon-a-time road”), which explores the colonization of the area from Curé Labelle to forestry, agriculture, and tourism. Some 60 points of interest are scattered along the way from Saint-Jérôme to Mont-Laurier.
